Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory is dedicated to life-long learning, hosting interactive and specialized professional learning workshops for teachers and educators at the Field Station throughout the year. Workshops are intended to help expand the knowledge of teachers and provide interesting educational techniques and activities for use in the classroom.

Our curriculum and activities range from:

  • Hudson River topics
  • Climate change, sea level rise, and local impacts
  • Microplastics and their mega-impact
  • And more!

All lessons and activities align with the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). A formal online community for teachers and educators is in development to share feedback about the effectiveness of activities in the classroom and contribute tips and tricks to enhance activities.

If you are interested in attending the next Professional Learning Workshop, contact Margie Turrin, Director of Educational Field Programs.
