John Mugabo is an expert in sustainable development, with skills in project design, implementation, control and monitoring. He is a founding member of Action for Sustainable Transformation (AST), a Rwandan NGO working on empowerment for youth and women through skills development, education, health care, and job creation. His work with the USAID on literacy has included partnership development with local education institutions to foster improved school instruction and to promote school readiness and attendance for children. From 2010-2019, he worked with Jeff Sachs to implement the Millennium Villages project across Sub-Saharan Africa with a particular focus on Rwanda, and then to spearhead the Millennium Promise initiative to solidify those development gains. An active consultant and researcher, he works with a wide range of international organizations and Rwandan foundations. He holds an MBA degree in Strategic Management and a BA in Education.
