Intro: Plastic Pollution Analysis and Sustainability Solutions

February 17, 2023
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
America/New_York
Uris Hall, 3022 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 307

Plastic materials are associated with the development of technology, industry, and commerce and are an integral part of our evolution. At present, the U.S. is a major producer and consumer of plastics. In response to this emerging problem of our humanity, in March 2022, about 40 researchers, mainly from Columbia University, formed the Plastic Pollution Analysis & Sustainability Solutions (PPASS) working group, under the Climate School. The mission of the PPASS is to advance science and develop innovative tools and technologies that provide sustainable plastic waste management for all humanity.

At the first meeting, of the bi-weekly series, the network directors, Beizhan Yan, Joaquim Goes, and Thanos Bourtsalas, will update the progress of the network and discuss the steps forward. The tentative agenda is as follows:

  1. Update of the network (the network's official website, email, zoom link, proposals, and funded projects) and update from individual members
  2. The current arrangement of the meetings (seminar or roundtable discussion)
  3. Update on the conference planning (time, location, budget, etc.)
  4. Future funding opportunities
  5. Suggestions from members
